Art Collection
In addition to annual Student and Faculty Art exhibits both at GCC Main and North campuses, GCC is fortunate to have an extensive collection of art on campus available for viewing. There are a number of pieces on display at the Library Media Center, the Student Union and throughout the campus.
The Glendale Community College Art Collection is funded by Associated Student Government, and curated by a member of the Glendale College Art department.
From its beginnings in 1965 as a small collection of student art pieces, the collection is now one of world art, and includes paintings, drawings, prints, photography, sculpture, ceramic art, jade, masks, and other art objects. It includes art pieces which date from pre-history to the contemporary present. Large outdoor sculptures are placed along the north-south and east -west sidewalk divisions on the campus.
A self-guided audio tour is available for checkout , and is designed to help the visitor enjoy and learn more about selected or significant art items on display. There is no fee to visit the library, and it is open to members of the community as well as to students and faculty.
